a sense of belonging

Do you have moments where you just seem to notice the little blessings in your life?  Where the nuances of the ordinary just seem to sing a beautiful song?

That's exactly what this week has been like for me.  The time with family was extra special, even through the hectic pace of long car rides and theme parks, there was a sense of peace...a gentle nudge to remember right now.

As we finish off this week's summer visit with my sister and nephew with an early birthday celebration and another family gathering, and before we put them on the plane home for Texas, I am thankful for the blessing of family...thankful for a life (although far from perfect) full of love, of security, of belonging.

I pray that for you, too.  Have a wonderful weekend!

  1. Sounds like you are spending wonderful, quality time with family. We are having quiet days here, enjoying the down time before school starts back up again. Your peach crisp looked absolutely perfect. I think I may need to bake something up today. :) Have a wonderful weekend. Tammy

  2. It's always wonderful to have family visit. Enjoy the rest of their stay. Lovely Rose.

  3. We just had our little core family gathering last weekend. It was just our kids and their own kids. It doesn't happen often and it only lasted a few hours, but it was nice. Our son lives in southern CA and our daughter lives an hour north of us in northern CA. I treasure the times that we can be all together. It's not often enough though.

  4. I'm looking forward to spending time with my extended family soon. Your rose photos are beautiful, as is your new blog header. -Karen

  5. Glad you have had such a great visit with family. We only have a daughter living close by the others are far away. I miss seeing them so much!!!!

  6. May they have a safe trip home to TX.

WE do need to take time and count our blessings. Life can keep us so busy we forget. Lovely flowers you have there and I bet the fragrance is wonderful.

    Have a blessed weekend.

  7. So well said. I'm glad you've had such fun with your sis and her family making memories.
We don't start our family get togethers until August-can't wait!

  8. Yes, I've had those moments recently. You put it so beautifully!

  9. Wonderful reminders. I am glad you are having a good time with your family.

  10. Learning to be thankful in the everyday creates such a grateful heart...thanks for the reminder to always look for those treasures.

  11. I know just what you mean. I feel like that when I spend time with my sisters - you have such a long shared history and sense of always being there for each other. Enjoy your summery days and happy family times.

  13. Thank you for this lovely post.

I, too, have that sense that life is wonderful, that I have so much ... I remind myself of that often. In some regards it is easier to do that now while my life is so difficult, than if was when everything was hunky dory. The struggle to be a full time caregiver, the realization I have so little freedom now, the inability to do all the things I would like to do in my senior years because of ongoing responsibilities ... these trials by comparison have taught me just how lucky I am and how wonderful my life is right now.

Isn't that odd? A hidden blessing for use.

    Thanks for the post.

And thanks for following my bog. I am really enjoying yours. Your photography is wonderful.
